The Dead Don’t Die

There is something important to note as I write this review of Jim Jarmusch’s "The Dead Don’t Die" - I hate zombies. Of all the subjects that I have recurring nightmares about, zombies rank right behind dinosaurs and tornadoes.

I think the reason I hate zombies so much is that the fear is so realistic. It's easy to believe that a rogue virus could turn people into zombies, and that a horde of the undead could swarm the cities in a short amount of time.

All that being said, I surprisingly enjoyed "The Dead Don’t Die". The film follows a group of small-town police officers who must deal with a zombie invasion that threatens to overrun their town.

I have my interest in Adam Driver movies to thank for giving the film a chance. The deadpan performances and comedic approach to the zombie genre made it more palatable for someone like myself, who doesn't "do gore" or horror movies.

My favorite supporting role in the film is Tilda Swinton's character, with her hilarious response to the zombie threat in town. I identify with Chloe Sevigny's character and her overwhelming anxious response to the apocalypse.

In conclusion, "The Dead Don’t Die" gets a thumbs up from this humble zombie movie-hating viewer.
